General Massage Therapist Central Blog Entries
Welcome to the new look Massage Therapist Central Podcast Website.
You'll notice some but not all of the articles have been moved to the new site. I have decided to re-launch the Massage Therapist Central Website and Podcast.
A lot of work has been put in planning and developing the new site. Unfortunately that meant the old one kind of got neglected as I just simply did not have the time to work on both side of MTC.
I hope you'll check back regularly and be sure to join (it's free) and introduce yourself in our new Forums.

Massage Therapist being sued for unnecessary touch
Written by Kimberly JansenEvery now and again I see things like this in the News headlines and it just makes me want to scream.
For one, surely there is no reason for this outcome from any Massage Therapist.
You may have heard NZQA is dropping it’s credits for Massage and Aromatherapy courses in New Zealand.
There is a whole raft of alternative therapy course having their NZQA credit dropped. From the information I have been able to obtain from NZQA’s website, the reason these credits are being dropped is due to them no longer being required by industry.
So, what does that mean. Basically any institute currently offering NZQA accredited course for either Massage or Aromatherapy will need to remove those statements.
I know of someone unqualified practicing. What can I do?
Written by Kimberly JansenWell, legally, there is nothing you can do. New Zealand does not have any form of regulation for the Massage or Aromatherapy industries.
It is up to the clients of the person involved to make enquiries with such people as to their qualifications and make complaints to appropriate authorities if any should arise.
Whether you have had your massage clinic up and running for a while, or are just setting your clinic up.
Please remember to keep in mind, your Local Council may have by-laws which you must abide by.
For example.
To open a massage clinic in Auckland you will require an Environmental Health Licence (Health Protection Licence). For information on how to obtain a health licence, you will need to speak with an Environmental Health Officer directly, available by phone via the Call Centre on (09) 379 2020 between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
