MTC-2009-11-20 #5 With a heavy heart
Welcome to episode 5 of the Massage Therapist Central Podcast.
This weeks show is done with a bit of a heavy heart. My grandmother passed away at 6:30pm on Tuesday 17th November 2009, 4 hours after I had been to see her.
So this will be released on time but was recorded a day early as I will be in Wellington for her funeral when it is released.
Covered in this weeks Episode:
- NZQA dropping massage and aromatherapy course credits
- Anatomy of a research article
- Massage oil stains
- Parkinson disease – The benefits of massage
- Path to alternative therapies littered with obstacles
- Researchers get $2.5M to study psoriasis relief
- New software for independent massage and spa professionals.
- Massage therapy benefits fallen arches.
NZQA dropping course credits
You may have heard NZQA is dropping it’s credits for Massage and Aromatherapy courses in New Zealand.
There is a whole raft of alternative therapy course having their NZQA credit dropped. From the information I have been able to obtain from NZQA’s website, the reason these credits are being dropped is due to them no longer being required by industry.
So, what does that mean. Basically any institute currently offering NZQA accredited course for either Massage or Aromatherapy will need to remove those statements.
